Has everyone enjoyed the holidays of late? I know I have. It stared with a Cedar with my brother and his family on Monday and ended with a fantastic Easter dinner on Sunday. The family and friend time was mixed in with spring break (from the *day job*), so I had quite the week!
On Sunday, David and I invited a small group of friends over to celebrate Easter and the return of fabulous weather. I must say, I lucked out with a boyfriend who will cook all the big meats of which I am afraid. While he was in charge of the substantive nourishment, I spent my Friday and Saturday evenings prepping all of the sinful sweets.
I’ve recently found a new love for royal icing and have been experimenting with ratios to get the perfect batch. Mom set over a few cookie cutters in a little care package, which let me make the perfect canvass for my experimenting. Not entire works of art, but the cookies turned out quite tasty!

Then there was the recipe I spotted on Craftzine awhile back for homemade Cadbury Eggs. A longtime favorite, I just had to give it a whirl! The sticky centers were extremely fussy, and while they don’t look much like eggs, I must say, they taste as wonderful as the real deal! Good thing they are only in season once a year or I’d be in trouble!
Finally, our wonderful friends brought along their own delicious editions. From the homemade mac ‘n cheese and deviled eggs K. to the Easter bread baked with love by J., we were by no means starving. Oh-and not to forget the Pom Wonderful concoction created by A. and inspired by this.
And if anyone is keeping track, I believe David just barely beat J. in Egg Wars, but she was the true victor by finding 10 eggs in the hunt including the *super* egg with a whole $1.25 in it!
Exceptional friends and delicious food. I am content.
